Freedom

July 5, 2023

This week we celebrated the United States Declaration of Independence. You may have been one of the many who had a day off to spend with family and friends. Hot dogs, hamburgers, along with the fixings may have been your fare for the day. You might have even enjoyed an evening of fireworks.

Today I want to offer a short post reminding us that not only are we blessed to live in a nation that is free, but we also have the opportunity to experience spiritual freedom.

White lilies are said to symbolize peace, spirituality, and unconditional love. Yellow lilies symbolize joy, hope, and new beginnings.

I’m not sure whether the lilies in our back yard are considered white or yellow, so I’ll just say they represent both white and yellow symbols.

So, as we come out of our Fourth of July celebrations, may we forever remember what the Bible says about our spiritual freedom.

“Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.” (Acts 13:39, NIV)

Our freedom—from sin, from the burden of having to keep Old Testament laws, and from the hold that Satan wants to have on our lives, allows us to experience peace, God’s unconditional love, joy, hope, and new beginnings. Let’s not take this for granted, and just as we celebrate our nation’s independence, let’s celebrate and thank God for His Son, Jesus Christ and for the freedom His death gave us.

  1. That was a great post and very helpful to me today. I loved hearing what the colors of the lilies mean. And I love thinking about our Spiritual Freedom and what God has made us free from. Very encouraging.
