Day by Day Renewal.

“Oof. Pulling myself up off the floor gets harder every year.”
Ever said something like that? Don’t feel bad if you have. We all do. Especially those of us in the later stages of life. I’m not trying to be morbid, but I’m definitely older than I am young. If that even makes sense.
Hair is graying. The weight is harder and harder to lose or maintain. Standing straight can be a chore at times. Memory is something to work on. All signs I am getting older. I’ve heard it said that from the day we are born our bodies are aging. True enough, I suppose, but you really notice it when you’re older.
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16, NIV)
But inside, God works a miracle in us. He renews our spirit day by day. Our bodies may be fragile. People might look at us and say, “I don’t know how you do what you do.” Think about it. Have you ever seen people who you’ve thought must struggle mightily to walk and talk, but their joy flows from them? I have. I see it monthly as some of us play Bingo at one of the local nursing facilities. Some of the residents can barely get from their room to the lobby where we play, but their spirit blesses those they come in contact with.
That’s because though outwardly they may be wasting away, inwardly they are renewed day by day. God plants within them a spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness, and self-control.
You can have that same miracle worked within you, too.
Day by Day Renewal. #hope #joy #writingcommunity Share on XGod desires to have that relationship with all of us. He doesn’t want us to lose heart. He wants us to live renewed. A renewed life is one that sings the praises of the Renewer. And when we sing His praises, others will look at us and say, “I want what you have.” And guess what? God draws another to Himself.
I love David’s prayer of renewal.
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” (Psalm 51:10-12, NIV)
Join me in praying that prayer so that our renewal will point others to God.
Amen! Aging gratefully.
Thank you, Joy!
