God’s Plan for You.

October 25, 2023

We haven’t done it in a few years, but in the past our family would gather and make Halloween goodies. One year we made these hot dog mummies.

The mummies remind me that as each family member made their own mummy, each looking distinctively different than another, that God made us as individuals. We look different, have our own personalities, gifts, talents, and abilities.

Jeremiah recognized this when the Lord spoke to him.

“Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.’” (Jeremiah 1:4-5, ESV)

This Scripture gives me hope. Like Jeremiah, I know God knew me before I was born. He chose me to be who I am, and God doesn’t make mistakes. He has a plan for me, and I hope to fulfill that plan in my life.

He made you to be you. He has a plan for you.

You can take Jeremiah’s words and consider them as God speaks to us.

As an individual made by God, with a specific purpose, we can live a tremendous life as we search the heart of God to find His plan for us.

You don’t have to feel like you need to answer the following question with a comment. I just want us to consider it. If you don’t know how to fill in the blank, I encourage you to find a way to determine your spiritual gifts and see how you might use them to fulfill God’s plan for you.

What is God saying to you when He says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you ________________”?

  1. Thanks for your post, Tim. I think God appointed me to do many things, based on my age/maturity/wisdom at the time. But for sure, He appointed me to do what He wants. 🙂

  2. I love the hot dog mummy’s:) Great idea! I’m still trying to figure out what God has made me to do. Right now it is being a caretaker for others, but it is probably only for a season. I think our paths that we have been called to changes over a life time and we are constantly having to adjust… maybe:)

    1. Thanks, Jane. I agree with you. I do believe our calling changes with circumstances, our maturity, and God’s plans for us.

  3. Tim,
I agree with Jane and Joni that we have different purposes during the different seasons of our lives. I was first a daughter, granddaughter, sister, cousin, niece, wife, mother, grandmother, author. All of those things required different things of me. But, firstly, I am a child of the King, born to glorify Him. I know I’ve failed miserably some days. But as I’ve aged and have grown in maturity and hopefully, wisdom, I know to listen for His voice guiding me in any and all things I do. Prayer is key, but as many blog posts I’ve read lately remind me, I have to remember to be still and listen.
Thanks for always giving us good thoughts to ponder. You are a blessing to me and so many!
